Detective Maddie Ives is back to investigate an unusual scene. A couple have been stabbed to death in a frenzied attack at their home, with their hand tied behind their backs. This is the second such scene in a few days.
Maddie needs to connect the two murders to solve the case.
Bit of a slow burner but with an intriguing outcome. Part of a series but can be read as a standalone book.

Camille Hamilton was meeting her lover in her Grandmothers summer house. She puts in the blindfold left for her, but then realises it is not her lover but a brutal killer that doesn’t appreciate their relationship.
17 years later, the Grandmother has passed away and Camille siblings, twins Lana and Ollie come to sort through the estate. Though it seems someone is not happy to have Lana back in town as she is mowed down one evening, Lana escapes and while recovering, starts clearing Camilles old room and discovers her sisters secret journal that mentions the secret lover, G. Perhaps, the person convicted for the crime was really innocent?
An excellent standalone book by Keri Beevis, who continues to blow all expectations out the window.

Ruby is in Australia when an old school friend calls to advise 2 mutual friends from their school year have been murdered in their small hometown. Ruby, who works for NCA, is called back to Missbrook to help investigate the crimes and turns out there are more victims by the time Ruby arrives. Ruby needs to think back to a high school incident that links all the victims and find the killer before they strike again.
An interesting plot which links cleverly the past and the present. Ruby is a likeable character who doesn’t suffer fools gladly.

19 years ago Bella was kidnapped and held hostage by an old flame, Laurence, in her own family home basement. She escaped after 5 days. Bella now owns and lives in the same house, which is a sore subject between her and her sister.
Now 19 years on, Laurence is free from prison and strange things start happening and Bella is convinced Laurence is back to torment her. Bella is alone after her children and husband are away for the weekend and wakes to finds herself back in the basement, tied to a chair and her kidnapper is her worst nightmare.
A chilling psychological thriller, with the typical twists but a really enjoyable read. You really sympathise with Bella’s character and she doesn’t deserve any of what is happening to her.

Wow! Just when you think Lisa Jewel has peaked, she blows you away with this book.
Josie Fair is a plain, content 45 year old, celebrating her birthday with her (much older) husband. She sees another birthday celebration in the same restaurant, also celebrating her 45 birthday, Josie introduces herself to Alix and proclaims them birthday twins! After bumping into each other, Josie and Alix strike up a conversation and Alix agrees to do a podcast on Josie who says she has a story to tell.
It turns out Josie’s life is less than ordinary and her family situation is quite complex. The pair grow closer and Josie starts to demonstrate some strange, stalkerish behaviour, some doubt starts to make Alix think not is all as it seems. Then Alix’s husband disappears…
A real page turner, trying to determine what the truth actually is. You will not be disappointed.

Kate returns to town when she learns her mum has broken her hip and needs nursing. Coincidentally, Emma has just died from anaphylactic shock. A really fast paced, gritty thriller. Typically, a twist right at the end that will satisfy. The character details were in depth and really supported the story.

A harrowing tale of Molly and her mother, a drug addict who uses her daughter as currency to buy her drugs from some rather unsavoury characters. The pair flee London and head to Dartmoor and reside in a remote, neglected house with Lester. Molly has to be Lester’s ‘good girl’ in order for them to stay and Molly’s mum continues to out her drug habit before her daughters safety. Molly escapes and explores the moor and comes cross the ‘map’ lady who shows her different parts of the moor. Things come to ahead one evening, when Lester is throwing a ‘party’ and Molly is the party entertainment. Soon Molly’s life takes a unprecedented turn but there is no happy ever after for her.
A fast paced book full of plot and implied abused. Quite a dark thriller, and not usual twist or happy ending.
