This is the second such scene in a few days. Maddie needs to connect the two murders to solve the case. Bit of a slow burner but with an intriguing outcome. Part of a series but can be read as a standalone book.

Perhaps, the person convicted for the crime was really innocent? An excellent standalone book by Keri Beevis, who continues to blow all expectations out the window.

Lucy has very strong feelings to wards sex offenders after her sister took her own life after being attacked by one of her mums boyfriends. Lucy encounters Chris, a like minded vigilante. The pair are conducting their own investigation despite police involvement. Together they strive to find Kailey before it’s too late. A really good read, the start of a compelling series. Can’t wait to see what Lucy does next. You can sympathise with the underlying cause to her action
Janie and Max have a newborn, Freya. Janie is struggling with new motherhood, but Max is really supportive. One night he promises to take over the feeding, but in the night Freya is crying and Max is nowhere to be found. After speaking to Max’s parents, Max has form in disappearing. Next, the police are looking for Max in connection to a woman murdered at a bar and her child has been kidnapped. Janie is determined to find out what has happened to Max and how he is connected in all this. A fast paced, enjoyable read. You really warmed to the characters which were well developed.
Ruby is in Australia when an old school friend calls to advise 2 mutual friends from their school year have been murdered in their small hometown. Ruby, who works for NCA, is called back to Missbrook to help investigate the crimes and turns out there are more victims by the time Ruby arrives. Ruby needs to think back to a high school incident that links all the victims and find the killer before they strike again. An interesting plot which links cleverly the past and the present. Ruby is a likeable character who doesn’t suffer fools gladly.
19 years ago Bella was kidnapped and held hostage by an old flame, Laurence, in her own family home basement. She escaped after 5 days. Bella now owns and lives in the same house, which is a sore subject between her and her sister. Now 19 years on, Laurence is free from prison and strange things start happening and Bella is convinced Laurence is back to torment her. Bella is alone after her children and husband are away for the weekend and wakes to finds herself back in the basement, tied to a chair and her kidnapper is her worst nightmare. A chilling psychological thriller, with the typical twists but a really enjoyable read. You really sympathise with Bella’s character and she doesn’t deserve any of what is happening to her.
Helen and George are moving away from London, Helen is wiped out as a doctor and they are starting afresh in Cornwell. George has made the new house arrangements and Helen is apprehensive to what she is moving to. The house, in a sleepy village is run down and has not been lived in for over 30 years. The locals are not welcoming and Helen is told they do not talk about the house. Finally, after finding some internet connection, Helen discovers there was a triple murder and witchcraft surrounding the houses history. What else has George hidden from Helen. But George is not the only one harbouring secrets. Told from several peoples point of view, this story will compel you to keep reading to find out what really happened 30 years ago and what the secrets being kept are. A refreshing, gripping read.
