A criminal, the Locksmith, is Terri siding New York. He breaks in, no lock is too secure, watches women sleep and moves items around. Lincoln Rhymes must watch from the sidelines after being NYPD are no longer suing civilian consultants, while his wife, Amelia Sachs investigate the Locksmith.
15th in the series, but a first for me. I was expecting a cannot-put-down read but found the second half lacked pace and kept my attention. Hoping this is just a blip.

This is the 8th instalment of DCI Matilda Darke series. It’s nearly a year since the devastating event that killed servers of her team and close friends. Darke is returning back to duties as the long on going Carl Meghan case comes to an end and a woman is found killed which resembles several cold cases. Her team have doubts she is for for duty and she’s goes off on a tangent with selected team members.
An amazing read, full of emotions for all the characters. This can be read out of order but would be beneficial to have the full background story. It was hard to see how Darke could return, but she has with bells on. Can’t wait for the next book.

6 year old Zoe Parker is woken with a start by her parents in the middle of the night, they tell her to play hide and seek as they know a killer has broken in and attacks them both. When Detective Amanda Steele investigates they cannot find Zoe. She is finally discovered hiding in a chest and won’t talk. Steele is put in charge of guarding and looking after Zoe as the killer returns and attacks a close friend and the pair build up a bond.
Following on from previous Steele books, there is an underlying storyline of Steeles husband and daughter who we killed and her mother facing a murder trial, I enjoyed the continuing storyline and development of the characters. A gripping crime thriller and highly recommended.

DI Amy Winters returns in another crime thriller. The Harper family disappeared from their home in the village of Nighbrook 10 years ago, leaving the house like they upped and left during dinner. The family home has come for sale and crime writer Naomi buys Ivy Cottage determined to solve the mystery of what happened to the Harper’s.
Naomi and her family are not made to feel welcome by the villagers. They are very vague about the topic of the Harper’s then events start occurring and it is clear the villagers want Naomi to leave.
Another great read by Caroline Mitchell, full of suspense and intrigue. The villagers are portrayed to be eerie and full of secrets which slowly become unravelled.

An untold tragic event led to Phoebe Taylor to give up her 4 year old son, Charlie. Phoebe returns to the area determined to find the child taken away from her. She meets Ben Moreton and instantly knows he is Charlie. She strikes up a friendship and obtains a job in the same coffee shop he works in.
The story is told from Phoebe and Bens perspective, over different periods of time, and the events that led to Phoebe losing her son. This links up to quite a gripping plot with tense rollercoaster moments. I enjoyed reading this thriller and look forward to reading more from Sarah Clarke.

DS Robin Butler attends the scene of a transit van in a multi storey car park. The van is locked with 2 people inside. One is dead, the other the suspect. The suspect is also DS Butlers best friend, Finn. DC Freya West helps Butler with the investigation and to help clear his fiends name.
A more slower paced book than the previous instalment. I enjoyed the development of the main characters and their unusual relationship. I’m hoping for another book in the series with a more gripping crime for the pair to solve.
